ICA Internship FAQs

- Is this a paid internship?
Internships at ICA are unpaid. However work-study is available for Penn students who are eligible. If you are interested in applying to for work-study at ICA, you can check out any open positions which will be listed here.

- Do I have to be a current student to do the internship?
No, you don’t have to be a student but you have to have flexible time to do work here. Interns primarily work during ICA’s office hours, weekdays 10AM-6PM, (although actual times may vary by department) therefore potential candidates must be available within those times. In addition interns are expected to complete at least an average of 10-20 hours per week.

- What are the hours I will need to work as an intern?
Interns work during ICA’s office hours (weekdays 10AM-6PM) however your actual hours may vary by department supervisor once you are hired. Interns may be expected to complete between 10-20 hours per week.

- What are the departments within ICA that I could apply to work in?
We currently have the following departments: Business Admin, Development, Programming, Public Engagement, Curatorial, Publication & Libraries, and Marketing. To find out more about each department, click here.

- How do I apply to become an ICA intern?
You must fill out the ICA intern application form here. Please be sure to include all supporting documents. Our internships run in 3 cycles: Fall, Spring and Summer and their respective deadlines to apply are August 1 (Fall), December 1 (Spring), and April 1 (Summer).

- When/how will I find out if I received the internship?
Once the application deadline has passed for the semester you’re applying for, you should expect an email within two weeks regarding the status of your application. If you have been chosen as a candidate, an interview will be set up with a Department Supervisor.
