Kahlil Joseph Screening and Conversation in conjuction with BlackStar Film Festival

At 5:30pm, ICA Ruffneck Constructivists artist Kahlil Joseph will be at International House for a screening event and Q&A, followed by a conversation at 7pm with Terence Nance. This event is free, but tickets are required.

A member of the What Matters Most film co-operative, Joseph’s short, brilliantly rich films are filled with fantastic dreamlike images that are rooted in the everyday even as they take us elsewhere. Joseph quite literally reimagines the relevance and emotional register of the music video, scoring his concise and easy-flowing narratives to the lush music of Flying Lotus, Seu Jorge, and Shabazz Palaces.

BlackStar Film Festival

The BlackStar Film Festival is a celebration of cinema focused on work by and about people of African descent in a global context. BlackStar highlights films that are often overlooked from emerging, established, and mid-career directors, writers, and producers working in narrative, documentary, experimental, and music video filmmaking.
