Enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee and join Penn History of Art PhD and PennDesign MFA candidates for an intimate conversation inspired by the ICA exhibitions on view.

chukwumaa, Penn Design MFA candidate, leads a conversation that about the many ways that sound can imply real, imagined, and symbolic space. Prompted by the ICA exhibitions on view, chukwumaa will ask how sound is employed in relation to architecture and the body. We will look and listen for the ways in which sound evokes physical space, conjures history and memory, and is felt as a visceral, bodily experience.

chukwumaa is a first year MFA candidate in Interdisciplinary Art at the University of Pennsylvania. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, chukwumaa’s work takes the form of sound, performance, found and soft sculpture, and other media experiments. ckukwumaa holds a BA in Studio Art from the University of Maryland, College Park and has exhibited his work at numerous venues including, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, National Portrait Gallery.
