Cory Arcangel is an artist who was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, and educated in experimental video partly by Squeaky Wheel – a local non-profit organization founded by Tony Conrad.
In this talk, the artist discusses his past and recent activities, which fall loosely into a few categories: digital preservation, composition, and fine art, and manifest in a diverse array of mediums such as, video games, organ compositions, lasers, social network bots, and cinema. Arcangel also talks about Music and the Mind of the World, Conrad’s late 1970s and early 1980s piano work that spans over 200 hours, which was published in 2017 by Arcangel’s publishing and merchandise company, Arcangel Surfware.
