The F-Word Magazine at the University of Pennsylvania is releasing its annual Autumn publication, featuring authors and artists from across Penn and Philadelphia whose work merges the intersection between feminism and art. The evening will consist of readings by the magazine’s contributors, and an art making activity that engages with the archives of the queer art collective fierce pussy. The work of the fierce pussy artists is currently on view as part of the arms ache avid aeon: Nancy Brooks Brody / Joy Episalla / Zoe Leonard / Carrie Yamaoka: fierce pussy amplifiedexhibition. The readings and art making activity will be interspersed with opportunities to socialize with members of the club while enjoying refreshments.
The F-Word defines feminism as the demand for the equality of all people, regardless of gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, or religion. We firmly believe that feminist art and writing can be a powerful driver of positive social, political, and cultural change. We aim to provide a platform that privileges the voices of women, queer people, people of color, and other ethnic and religious minorities and help them share those voices with the world. In doing so, we hope to foster a dialogue and put a balanced face on feminism to show that this movement is not just for white women. For more information about F-Word visit: upennfword.com.
