UPenn MFA candidates Austin Fisher, Zach Hill, and Danielle Kovalski Monsonego present Blowback, a performance utilizing a trained singer in a sculptural costume whose voice is amplified and enacted through an industrial fan and public address system. Voice and language are stretched into an exaggeratedly physical spatial experience that activate set and costume. The performance will take place on ICA’s Tuttleman Terrace.
Blowback is part of out of actions, a performance event presented by the Incubation Series, with performances by Jane Fentress, Austin Fisher, Evan Curtis Charles Hall, Zach Hill, Valentina Soto, Danielle Kovalski Monsonego, Jessi Ali Lin, Rebecca Naegele, Fred Schmidt-Arenales, and Emmanuela Soria Ruiz.
out of actions is organized by Isabelle Lynch (UPenn) and Laurel McLaughlin (Bryn Mawr) in collaboration with the Arthur Ross Gallery, Lynn Marsden-Atlass, Executive Director, and Heather Gibson Moqtaderi, Assistant Director/Associate Curator & Collections Manager.
Performances will take place across campus, beginning at 9AM, culminating in a conversation with the artists at Arthur Ross Gallery at 4PM. For more information and a full schedule of events, visit www.theincubationseries.com.
Programming at ICA has been made possible in part by the Emily and Jerry Spiegel Fund to Support Contemporary Culture and Visual Arts and the Lise Spiegel Wilks and Jeffrey Wilks Family Foundation, and by Hilarie L. & Mitchell Morgan.
