‘Making Sweet Tea’, a feature-length experimental/ethnographic documentary, follows the personal and scholarly trajectory of researcher and performer E. Patrick Johnson, who has spent a decade investigating the lives of gay Black men from the South. The film tells the rich and complex stories of several gay Black Southerners alongside Johnson’s process of documenting and then performing these stories.
