Bring your lunch and join us on the mezzanine for a new educational series with ICA curators, artists, and staff about what happens behind the scenes before, during, and after our exhibitions. Informal in nature, these sessions will take place over 45 minutes at lunchtime featuring discussions about shows currently on view at ICA. An ideal break from the workday or studying, the Brown Bags are perfect for those interested in learning more about contemporary art and what informs the work that goes on the walls in our galleries.
Following this Brown Bag Lunch, Raúl de Nieves will present his solo performance The Fly.
Brooklyn-based multimedia artist Raúl de Nieves (b. 1983, Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico) is a lead participant in Endless Shout, a six-month exploration of the role of performance and improvisation within the museum. De Nieves is known for his highly theatrical musical live performances and visual work that spans large-scale figurative sculpture, narrative painting, and ornamental shoes and garments. De Nieves has exhibited widely, including at Mendes Wood DM (São Paolo), MoMA PS1, The Museum of Art and Design, Rod Bianco (Oslo), Shoot the Lobster, and elsewhere. He has also performed at Artists Space, BOFFO, The Kitchen, MoMA PS1, Performa 13, Real Fine Arts, and numerous other venues.
