Enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee and join Penn graduate students for intimate conversations inspired by the ICA exhibitions on view.
Keenan Bennett, Penn MFA candidate, leads a conversation prompted by the ICA exhibition Christopher Knowles: In a Word about the slippages between theater and play. The discussion will consider experimental theater as a way to investigate the possibilities of existing in the urban realm through theories developed by Robert Wilson, Georg Simmel, Johan Huizinga, and Robert Pfaller. At the conclusion of the event, attendees will be invited to participate in a “real-time” slowing-down exercise that will develop the group’s dynamic through movement and language.
Keenan Bennett is a second year MFA candidate in Integrated Practices at the University of Pennsylvania. Bennett is a visual and performance artist working primarily in sculpture, installation, photography, video, and participatory situations. Bennett’s work has been included in numerous group shows and he has coordinated public participatory performances in major cities such as Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.
