Schedule

• Meet & Greet | 4-4:30PM | Front Desk
Welcome, introductions, and fellowship around the topic of the day.

• Womanism 101 Teach-In: Womanism as a Vehicle to Black Liberation | 4:30PM-5:15PM | Mezzanine | Latierra Shauntel Piphus, Womanist Working Collective

“There is no thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives.”

A short introduction to the origins, ideologies, literature and activism of Womanism, followed by an interactive teach-in which invites participants to explore Womanism as a vehicle to Black Liberation. Participants will teach and learn how this theoretical concept can show up in our everyday lives through the work we do within ourselves, our families, friendships and collective communities. Contrary to what the name suggests, the concept of Womanism can be embraced by folks of every gender or no-gender at all.

• Writing and Poetry Workshop | 4:30PM-5:15PM | Auditorium | Misty Sol, Multidisciplinary Artist

“I write for those women who do not speak, for those who do not have a voice because they were so terrified, because we are taught to respect fear more than ourselves.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in partnered writing exercises exploring the concepts of witness and reflection. As a group, participants will use poetry to rediscover and expand our possibilities for wholeness.

• Embodied Tenderness Workhop | 5:30PM-6:15PM | Auditorium | Jean-Jacques Gabriel, Yogi

“We have to consciously study how to be tender with each other until it becomes a habit.”

Come explore simple breathing exercises and basic yoga poses that build sensitivity and tenderness with our own bodies, and then participate in a conversation on consent as we explore consensual touch and tenderness through Thai massage.

• Roundtable Discussion | 6:30PM-8PM | Auditorium

“The master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house.”

Is there a way to participate in systems of oppression while simultaneously deconstructing them? This panel discussion will explore capitalism, colonialism and social entrepreneurship as it relates to communities of color.

Panelists: Jean-Jacques Gabriel, LaTierra Shauntel Piphus, and Johanna James. Moderator: Misty Sol.

• Live Screenprinting & Merch | 8PM-10PM | Coatcheck Area | Philadelphia Printworks

Philadelphia Printworks will be offering free screen printing at the close of the event; BYO t-shirt or tote. Limited blank shirts will be available for sale.

• DJ bb basura | 8PM-10PM | Mezzanine
