Attention with The Order of the Third Bird required audience participation in a gallery-based exercise. Attendees were asked to engage in three steps of sustained observation directed at a specific artwork in the gallery. Led by three “Birds” donning bright orange ceremonial scarves, participants surrounded one work in the exhibition, Mateo Tannatt’s Studio Complex/The Yellow Book (2012), for an intense, silent session of observation before reconvening to debrief.
