An opening night reception launched the 2014 BlackStar Film Festival in style. DJ Mr. Sonny James provided the music for the energetic and enthusiastic crowd. Philadelphia came out and supported the event: nearly five-hundred people filled ICA and there was dancing both inside and out on the Tuttleman Terrace. Lots of tweeting along with copious use of Instagram was observed. Congratulations to Maori Karamel Holmes and team for convening Black cinema—its makers, producers, artists, aspirants, and audiences—for such a significant event!
