Step Into the Studio

About

We stepped into the studios of New York School artists with Greg Dinkins by the way of the stereo photographs of Max Margulis. Margulis (1907-96) was a musician, writer, teacher, and co-founder of Blue Note Records. An avid stereo photographer, he found inspiration on the streets of the Lower East Side, in the studios of artists such as Willem de Kooning, and on trips to Mexico with his friend Aaron Siskind. Dinkins, co-founder of the New York Stereoscopic Society, restored hundreds of Margulis’s stereoviews of the 1950s and presented them with anecdotes culled from family and friends. 3-D glasses were provided!
