Made in Philadelphia 2

Made In Philadelphia 2, 1974, installation view, Institute of Contemporary Art, University of Pennsylvania.

Made in Philadelphia 2, like its predecessor held in 1973, documents the growing number of gifted artists who have chosen to live and work in this city. Its human scale, rich cultural resources, plentiful teaching positions and reasonable rents have attracted many artists to Philadelphia, which in the early nineteenth century was the principal center of American Art…

While the artwork included in Made in Philadelphia 2 reflects the city’s sensibility, the diversity of the work reveals the individual expression and temperament of the eight participating artists.
