The free [opening celebration] event is open to the public and precedes the highly-anticipated screening of filmmaker Kahlil Joseph‘s short films Until The Quiet Comes, Black Up and Wildcat on August 1st at the ongoing Ruffneck Constructivists exhibit curated by artist and chief architect of the Marvelous Sugar Baby, Kara Walker. Joseph’s ethereal clips, which are often scored by the sounds of sonically forward artists like Flying Lotus, Shabazz Palaces and Seu Jorge, fit perfectly with the festival’s Music Is The Weapon theme.—Karas Lamb
