The Walker interviewed curator Alex Klein and Excursus I–IV designer Mark Owens on ICA’s four-part Excursus project and its recent publication:
Excursus was a project with many moving parts, including four installations, archival material in flat files and vitrines, over fifty events, and more than one hundred participants… What results is a Whole Earth Catalogue-meets-Sky Mall page structure that not only reflects the density of the material but also isolates each element and allows the reader to appreciate both the material quality and rich variety that resulted from each participant’s response to the Excursus prompt.
