Gina DeCagna joined ICA in 2017 as Van Doren Fellow for Arts Engagement, held jointly with the Center for Programs in Contemporary Writing and Kelly Writers House at the University of Pennsylvania.
She has worked in a variety of editorial capacities on publications, most recently on national bestselling books for HarperCollins Publishers, including the William Morrow, Ecco, Dey Street, and Harper Design imprints; national magazines for Meredith Corporation; and niche cultural magazines including The Paris Review archives via the Morgan Library & Museum, Jacket2 via the Kelly Writers House, and Glass Quarterly via UrbanGlass in Brooklyn, New York.
From 2012 to 2016, she served as the Founder, Editor-in-Chief, and Executive Director of Symbiosis, an experimental arts community sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania that produced an annual magazine and gallery exhibition dedicated to the interrelationship of the visual and literary arts; it engaged hundreds of students and practicing artists and writers through curated collaborations and workshops.
In 2016, she earned a BA in English and Interdisciplinary Fine Arts at the University of Pennsylvania. She has held solo and group exhibitions of her visual artwork in Philadelphia. She serves on the steering committee of the Philadelphia Avant-Garde Studies Consortium.
