Bio

Rachell Morillo is ICA’s DAJ Director of Public Engagement and Research. In this role, she is responsible for spearheading the development of innovative, community-led programs and projects that foster critical dialogue, promote quality of life, and cultivate civic engagement in Philadelphia. Morillo brings a wealth of experience in arts education and community engagement, having previously served as Associate Educator of Civic Engagement at the Museum of Modern Art and Senior Coordinator of Public Programs & Community Engagement at The Studio Museum in Harlem. 

During her time at MoMA, Morillo led the development of programs that were responsive to the needs of underserved youth and communities. She also played a key role in co-leading collaborative efforts to expand programming reach and impact, including piloting new program models for neurodivergent, LGBTQ, and BIPOC communities. While working on MoMA’s Creativity Lab, she created programs that connected audiences with socially engaged artists and scholars.

Morillo received her degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Swarthmore College. Her background as an educator and researcher informs her approach to cultivating dynamic and inclusive spaces for civic engagement.
